English Teacher (Substitute 8-12 weeks)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Licensure in Secondary English
- SEI Endorsement preferred
- Demonstrated experience in the successful motivation of students at varying levels of achievement
- Understanding of curriculum design and development
- Knowledge of MA Curriculum Frameworks
- Experience with Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) or other reading remediation methods, preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable or appropriate
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide English and reading instruction to junior high students
- Develop daily and long-range plans for each course taught based on the MA Curriculum Frameworks and English department expectations
- Employ a variety of teaching techniques to ensure student engagement and achievement
- Develop and state a clear and consistent grading procedure for courses
- Keep accurately the appropriate grading and attendance records
- Combine a concern for effective relationships with students with strong interests in the subject
- Utilize SEI strategies to support all learners assigned
- Communicate effectively with parents, counselors, and special education case managers about the progress of individual students
- Accept supervision and guidance from Department Head and Principal
- Fulfill assigned supervisory and homeroom duties
- Continue to grow in the position through participation in professional development opportunities
- Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal and/or Department Head
SALARY: In accordance with FPS Substitute Rates
