Assist in providing daily safe transportation of students to and from programs within the town and to other out of district locations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to relate well with the public
- Experience working with Special Needs children preferred
- Sign language skills preferred
- CPR and first aid training required
- Bus Driver Substitutes CDL and medical exam required, Van Drivers Substitutes 7D license and medical exam required
- Bus Aides (opportunity to secure 7D license available)
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the bus/van operator in transporting a small number of handicapped children to and from school
- Responsible for seeing that pupils are placed on the bus/van safely, are properly seated, and seat belts and/or harnesses are applied
- Serve as a comforting influence during occasional emotional or physical outbursts
- Aid students off/on the bus/van assisting them into the school or to their homes
- Maintain order on the vehicle at all times
- Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned
SALARY: $18.00 per hour
