Head Custodian

Morse Pond School

12 months per year - 40 hours per week

2024-2025 School Year

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma.
  • Certificate of good health signed by a licensed physician, upon hire.
  • Experience as a custodian.
  • Experience in performing and/or supervising electrical, plumbing, carpentry repairs and preventative plant maintenance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide leadership and direction to other custodians. 
  • Demonstrate positive rapport and respect with school officials, staff, students, and the public at all times
  • Demonstrates reliability, dependability, and trustworthiness
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may deem appropriate and acceptable.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate regularly with Principal/Principal designee as well as with all other members of the School community as a way to compliment the overall culture and climate of the building.
  • Continuously evaluate work being done with a vision of work needed to complete over time.
  • Annually evaluate custodians.
  • Evaluate the daily expectations required, making sure that tasks have been accomplished (follow specified protocols to report).
  • Specifically, direct custodial staff to accomplish daily tasks, including but not limited to:Daily walk of school grounds for litter control, sweep, mop and dust floors, collect trash, wash windows, glass doors and tables, wash, strip and polish floors, vacuum rugs, carpets and drapes, check and inspect fire extinguishers, exit signs, assist in proper preparation for lock-down and fire drills working collaboratively with Principal, Fire, Police and Health Departments, repair broken lamps, remove ice/snow from walks and steps, operate boiler room and electrical switches, move furniture and train subordinates.
  • Respond and comply with daily work requests as approved by the Principal.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repair damaged items daily.
  • Overhaul, repair, and maintain equipment routinely.
  • Supervise contractual services provided by contractors.
  • Serve as the primary response person for emergencies and alarms.
  • Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Principal, your supervisor, and the Director of Finance & Operations.

 

SALARY: In accordance with the Custodian contract.
