QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts licensure as a Supervisor/Director and/or Assistant Principal/Principal.
- Master's Degree required.
- SEI Endorsement preferred.
- At least five years of successful teaching experience in a CTE program required.
- Experience with grant writing required.
- Experience in administration preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Massachusetts CTE Curriculum Frameworks.
- Knowledge and experience with Understanding by Design (UbD).
- Knowledge of or experience with Research for Better Teaching is desirable.
- Such other alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may deem acceptable and appropriate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Employ visionary thinking that supports current programming and attends to new program development
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental curriculum objectives aligned with the learning standards of the curriculum frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with Chapter 74 and Perkins requirements.
- Manage the Perkins Grant development, approval, and spending processes.
- Pursue additional grant opportunities to support program growth and innovation.
- Develop, facilitate, and implement professional learning for department members.
- Facilitate an ongoing program of curriculum development, revision, and evaluation.
- Serve as a resource for curriculum inquiries.
- Oversee middle/high school transition and course selection.
- Promote positive CTE learning culture, CTE advisory engagement, and participation in other opportunities as they are developed and promoted.
- Create and/or maintain general and program advisory committees.
- Create and/or maintain internship opportunities for each program within the school/district or within community-based businesses/agencies.
- Create and/or maintain technical skill attainment certification opportunities for each program.
- Create cross program real life experiences such as school store (business, marketing, tech), cafe (culinary, food justice, business, marketing, tech), or tech repair (tech, business, marketing).
- Collect, analyze, interpret, and use data to inform teaching, learning, and instructional leadership.
- Participate in the hiring process for the discipline and assist in new educator orientation and induction as needed.
- Supervise and evaluate department members using prescribed evaluation procedures.
- Implement a variety of best practices to ensure student learning, growth, and achievement.
- Plan and facilitate department meetings on a regularly scheduled basis as outlined in the annual district calendar and conduct post-meeting follow up as needed.
- Oversee, inventory, and manage supplies and materials using effective record keeping, distribution, and collection techniques.
- Assist in communicating the district’s instructional program to families, greater community, and community partners.
- Develop and utilize community resources for department needs.
- Provide input to the principals/assistant principals on the development of the schedule for each school.
- Remain current in best instructional and leadership practices through professional readings, attendance at curriculum-focused professional learning, and engagement in other professional conferences and opportunities.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders in horizontal and vertical articulation and development of teaching and learning, including the design of interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with the Assistant Superintendent in the development and implementation of district-wide curriculum objectives, needs analysis, and program development.
- Teach classes within the department/discipline.
- Collaborate with guidance counselors to ensure proper placement for newly enrolled students throughout the year at each school.
- Supervise the daily work assignments of substitute teachers in the department.
- Such other department related duties as the Principals and/or Assistant Superintendent may from time-to-time assign.
Salary: In accordance with FEA Unit B contract
